Witches and Bitches, our newest release, available now!

Calling all my Witches and Bitches

I know, I know ... not everyone wants to be called a Witch or a Bitch (although, plenty of us are already loud and proud!). Or maybe, you've been called those things by someone with far less positive intentions. So, let me clarify a bit who this collection of wicked poems and short stories might be for:

The animal-singing, delicate-shoe-wearing Princess who woke up one day an Evil Queen

You didn't change - well, maybe you did, a couple kids do change a person - but suddenly the tiny humans who saw you as the Fairy Queen Mother Who Could Do No Wrong are gallumph-ing teenagers calling you their Evil Stepmother (hah! The stretch marks and scars say otherwise) and your Handsome Prince is suddenly an absentee-King. Apparently it takes an Evil Queen to get anything done in a kingdom, and if the shoe fits...

The (maybe only somewhat) gray-haired, cloak-wearing, advice-giving, wish-granting, curse-bestowing Witch of the Woods

"Crone" Is a word that used to make you shudder, or maybe even spend money on countless "potions" promising eternal youth.

But something happened along the way of living, loving, and even raising others to live on their own that made you realize you've earned every inch of magical power you bear. Without you, there's no advice for young men how to earn the love of stubborn princesses, no golden spindles, no portals to magical dancing realms, no towers for traded first-born daughters, no curses placed on kingdoms that need to learn a lesson ... Without you there are no fairy tales. And suddenly, being a crone doesn't seem so bad after all.

The Woman who grew to be more Powerful than even she could imagine

You're probably sensing a theme by now - but life has a way of swallowing us up and spitting us back out. As magical and wonderful as they are, kids have a way of hungrily consuming everything (food, love, youth and time...) they can in an unending thirst for life, leaving chaos and mess in their wake. Lovers and husbands can be more Beast than Prince, businesses and jobs can leave you toiling in the (metaphoric) ashes instead of dancing at the ball. The world can take, and expect an unending source of giving to spring up from within you.

But the secret is that you are that unending source. And the power you create is your power. Let the world scream at you - "Witch! Bitch! Crone! Hag!" - because the truth is they're terrified that you might step into your power, and unabashedly become a wild women of myth.

Life is no fairy tale, but it sure makes Witches and Bitches out of us all. And maybe that's not such a bad thing.
